Under New Business, machine allocations for the August 2, 2022 Primary Election were announced. As of 7/1, there are 106,733 registered voters. There will be 76 DS 200 voting machines, 53 Express Vote, 137 poll pads, and 539 voting booth and tabletop locations. These numbers were accepted by a unanimous vote.

The number of ballots ordered for the primary is 108,270, which will be stored for 60 days following the election. The ballot allocations and election administration plan were approved unanimously.

Kent City Council has requested that the "sensible marijuana" initiative be placed on the November ballot. The signatures for the petition have been certified. The BOE determines if the subject matter is appropriate for the ballot. A similar issue was not placed on the ballot in 2018 because it was determined that the issue was administrative, not legislative, based on an analysis of a state statute. For the BOE to be consistent with past determinations, the prosecutor will be asked for a review of the current statute. All issues for the November election are due to the BOE on 8/10, with a certification deadline of 8/16.
