Issue Groups

Advocacy 2024

Issue and liaison groups are the backbone of our advocacy program.

League members are invited to join one of our issue or liaison groups by sighing up HERE.

We have two types of groups that follow the legislative process in Richmond. Full issue groups track and write legislation and create talking points and testimony for our legislative priorities. They also work to educate League members and the public on these issues. (The ICE Network also tracks new ICE facilities in Virginia.)

We also have a few liaison groups, which – while not full issue groups – serve as liaisons to single issue groups in which our members have an interest. Any member of LWV Virginia in good standing can join either.

Our Issue Groups and their meeting times are:

  • Affordable Housing: second Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m.
  • Education:  fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.
  • Environment:  first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m.
