The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It helps shape public policy through education and advocacy. The League of Women Voters never supports or opposes any political party or candidate.

The League of Women Voters operates at three levels: local, state and national.

The League of Women Voters of Greater Los Angeles (LWVLA) is a local League that performs two separate and distinct roles:

• Voters Service/Citizen Education: we present unbiased nonpartisan information about elections, the voting process, and issues.
• Action/Advocacy: we are nonpartisan, but, after study, we may use our positions to advocate in the public interest for or against particular policies or ballot measures.

LWVLA, a membership organization, takes action on issues and engages in advocacy.

Our Vision, Beliefs, and Intentions guide our activities.

Our Los Angeles League is one of eleven local Leagues in Los Angeles County. The others are:

• Beach Cities
• Claremont Area
• East San Gabriel Valley
• Glendale/Burbank
• Long Beach Area
• Palos Verdes Peninsula
• Pasadena Area
• Santa Monica
• Torrance

Our members are also members of:

• League of Women Voters of Los Angeles County
• League of Women Voters of California, and
• League of Women Voters of the United States.
