The Keweenaw County Board of Commissioners has scheduled a public hearing on Monday, September 14, at 6 pm at Horizons School in Mohawk.
The Public Hearing is being held to discuss and inform the residents of Keweenaw County about the process to potentially cease Keweenaw County Zoning. The Board will not make a decision at this meeting, as this is a public hearing only to discuss the potential process and hear public comment.
If they cease Keweenaw County Zoning, then it will become the responsibility of the 5 Townships. Four of the 5 townships currently do not have zoning, which could result in a total lack of Keweenaw land-use oversight and regulation in some instances due to a lack of staff and funding.
Please attend this important meeting and express your opinion to the Keweenaw County Board of Commissioners.
