Education Action Team

The Education Action Team focuses on the League of Women Voters' belief that high-quality public education for all children is necessary to sustain our democratic way of life and the economic health of our state and the people. We believe that adequate funding is essential to provide and sustain such an education.

Full-time working women earn 83 cents for every dollar paid to a man. If part-time workers are included, the ratio drops to 73 cents.  The gap widens for Blacks, Native Americans, Latinas, and other women of color.  Black, Native American and Latina women earn 58 cents, 50 cents and 49 cents for every dollar a white, non-Hispanic man earns.

What is Civics 101?

Civics 101 is a premier source of comprehensive and concise insight into the structures of governance in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County.  The program consists of six evening sessions, one-evening-per-week, covering the Mecklenburg County Board of Elections, Mecklenburg County Government, Charlotte City Council, CMS Board of Education, Local Media, and the Mecklenburg County Courts.
