 Democracy at Work Fund

Sally Austin

The Sally Austin Citizen Education Project, subsequently renamed the Democracy at Work Fund was established by a generous donation by Sally's husband, Led Austin, following her death in 2015. Sally was an energetic, passionate member of the LWVPT board of directors who faithfully and graciously organized the logistical details of our Lunch with the League meetings - the League's most critical public outreach events. Sally's invaluable and steadfast service reflected her personal commitment to the League's core missions of education and advocacy. She took pleasure in her role as stage manager for Lunch with the League, where members and citizens at large gain information on pressing topics and mingle with candidates, elected officials, and members of other organizations, including the media.

In keeping with Sally's enthusiasm for the League's outreach and advocacy, the endowment created in her name augments the work of LWVPT by promoting citizen education, building liaisons with elected officials, and enhancing our efforts at voter registration and advocacy. Each event supported by this endowment is named in Sally's honor, and her family is notified.
