Check your registration status

Make sure you are still registered to vote and that the Board of Elections has your current address.

Note: after you verify that you are registered to vote, you can click your name to check your sample ballot, the status of an absentee ballot request if you made one, a listing of your jurisdictions (districts, precincts, etc.), and your election day polling place.

Vote by Mail - Step by step guide

Request an absentee ballot through the NC Absentee Ballot Request Portal. You do not need a medical or other reason for doing so. Make this request as soon as you can before the deadline. The last day to request an absentee ballot for a given election is the Tuesday before the election day. (For 2024 primaries that date is February 27, 2024.)  Beginning Monday, January 15, 2024, mail-in absentee ballots for the March 5 election will be USPS mailed to those who have requested them.
