LWVAA Priorities: 2020-2021

Voting Rights:  Increase voter participation and education

 Actions: 

  1. Facilitate growth in number of registered voters.
  2. Provide a voter Information and education service to citizens through-out the greater Akron area in partnership with nonpartisan community groups
  3. Expand and strengthen voter access to election information about candidates and issues.

Election Rights:  Make Elections more safe, secure, accurate, and accessible for every eligible Ohioan.

 Actions:

  1. Educate membership and public on legislative initiatives focused on election and voter-registration security.
  2. Support and participate in the League of Women Voters of Ohio’s advocacy for a statewide Voter Verification and Registration System, expanded vote-by mail initiatives, and other voter-rights initiatives.

Citizens’ Rights:  Ensure compliance with Sunshine Laws at public meetings, advocate for donor transparency, ensure faithful redistricting reform

 Actions:

  1. Strengthen Observer Corps by recruiting and training public meeting observers
  2. Educate the public on the enacted redistricting reforms and advocate for legislative compliance in the redistricting process
  3. Advocate for transparency in political campaign contributions (dark money)
