Citizen-led ballot measures have been a check on the state legislature since 1912. Issue 1 takes power away from the voters while strengthening the control of politicians.
Majority rule and “one person, one vote” makes our democracy work.
A minority of voters shouldn’t dictate the direction of the majority.
It will impact many important issues into the future, including redistricting reform, minimum wage, bond issues for infrastructure. Issue 1 is not just about reproductive rights!
