Meeting Summary:

The primary purpose of the meeting was to certify candidates for the primary election (75-day filers and overlaps). Under public comment, Greg Francis, a candidate for Ravenna Mayor, requested consideration be given for his petition although there was an irregularity regarding specific signatures on one of the pages. When the BOE considered all irregular petitions, the following were the results: Greg Francis (Ravenna Mayor Candidate) denied; Frank Seman (mayoral candidate) accepted: Christina West - Ravenna Council-at-large candidate, still had sufficient number of signatures; Matt Harper (Ravenna Ward 3 Council candidate) accepted; Tim Calfee, Ravenna Ward 4 Council candidate - accepted. Overlaps for Kent City Mayor, Kent City Wards 1 and 6, and Tallmadge candidates were approved.

In other announcements, HB 458 now requires a review of absentee and provisional ballots within 5 days after an election. The dates for these reviews following the two upcoming elections will be 5/5 and 11/10. It was noted that the cure period ends on a Saturday.
