Type:
Blog Post

Date of Meeting: 6/16/2022

Format: In-person

Meeting Summary:

First orders of business consisted of approval of the minutes of the previous meeting and of a series of vouchers.

NEW BUSINESS
Faith Lyon presented the results of the post-election audit of the May 3, 2022 primary. The audit consisted of a hand count of approximately 1,200 ballots of selected races. The hand count matched the election day count exactly. All members present approved the report.

Members and guests were invited to observe Logic and Accuracy testing for overseas ballots for the August 2, 2022 primary election. The testing is required by the Office of the Secretary of State and confirms that the calculations have been reset to zero for all races.

The Election Administration Plan for the August primary, prepared by every state board of elections, must be submitted electronically to the Office of the Secretary of State on July 11 by 4 p.m. Because the plan requires approval of the Board before it is submitted, the next board meeting will be moved from the 12th to the 11th at 3:00 to allow for board consideration. All members present approved this change.

Employment Issues: Because two board employees are retiring, there was a discussion of initiating a search for their replacement early enough for them to be prepared for the Fall processes which precede the Fall election. This was an information-only matter and did not require a vote.

Which members of the board/council were present: Present were Board members Doria Daniels, Randi Clites, Denise Smith, and staff members Theresa Nielsen and Faith Lyon. Absent was Board member Amanda Suffecool, no reason given.

Was there a public notice of the meeting that included the time and place of meeting: Yes

Was an agenda of the meeting or handouts available to visitors: Yes

Are minutes from previous meetings posted/available: No
