Meeting Summary:
PUBLIC COMMENT
A Brady Lake area resident voiced concerns to Detective DeSerio about the growing number of children riding dirt bikes and ATVs on Lakeview Drive. Detective DeSerio responded that the guidelines in place for such vehicles are vague, making them difficult to enforce. There was also a discussion of increased parking along the lakeside and pontoon boats left overnight.
A representative of the Twin Lakes Association reported that the Ohio Department of Natural Resources has jurisdiction over all waterways in the state, including lakes, and would be the source of information about protocol for such boats.
Call statistics for the township in June included welfare checks, thefts, premises checks, assists to other agencies, domestic situations, traffic stops, and assists to other agencies, for a total of 335 calls.
ROAD, ZONING AND FIRE REPORTS
Mr. Swan motioned to proceed with hiring machinery to stack and store the road salt that must be purchased to fulfill a contract with ODOT. Both trustees voted yes.
Mr. Akerley thanked the Kent Service Department for their assistance in making room for this latest salt purchase.
Mr. Ciccozzi expressed frustration about the length of time the prosecutor’s office takes to return requests for information and authorization for zoning matters. Mr. Swan thanked Mr. Ciccozzi for the fine job he does for our residents.
OLD BUSINESS
A road crew employee on military leave will return to work in early August.
The emergency warning siren on Ravenna Road, which has been functional for several years,
is irreparable. Replacing the siren would cost $34,569.00. A motion to move forward with the new siren if approved by NOPEC was made and was approved by both trustees present.
Work on the town hall basement is progressing well.
NEW BUSINESS
Mrs. Russell reported that all county, local, and state-level employees must participate in Fraud Prevention and Reporting training. The township must track each employee’s completion of the virtual training, with documented support for auditors.
CORRESPONDENCE
Mrs. Kapusta was contacted by a Dollar Lake resident who is concerned about significant digging taking place in a yard adjacent to hers. Mr. Ciccozzi will look into this.
FINANCES
Both trustees present approved a resolution authorizing the transfer of $231,400 from the JEDD fund to the Sixth and Ohio project fund.
The 2025 Tax Budget has been submitted and accepted by the county auditor’s office.
A vote of both trustees approved the payment of bills totaling $114,745.32.
The members of the board/council were present: Kellie Kapusta and Scott Swan. Absent was Glenn Russell, illness.
