
LEAGUE OF WOMEN VOTERS OF KENT AND COMMUNITY GROUPS HOST SEPT. 30 FACE2FACE FORUM
FOR COUNTY ISSUES & KENT BOE CANDIDATES
Voters can talk in person with representatives from the three county-wide issue campaigns and candidates for Kent City Schools Board of Education at the 2023 General Election Voters & Candidate Face2Face forum organized by the League of Women Voters of Kent on Saturday, Sept. 30, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The forum will be held in Pierson Hall of Kent United Methodist Church, 1435 E. Main St., Kent. It is free and open to the public. Co-sponsors are Kent Environmental Council, Kent Lions, Brimfield Lions, Kent State Votes and the National Alliance on Mental Illness Portage.
The county-wide levies on the ballot are Issue 29 for the Portage County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Issue 30 for the Mental Health & Recovery Board of Portage County and Issue 31 for the Portage Park District. There are four candidates, who have all indicated they will attend, vying for two seats on the Kent City Schools Board of Education.
Citizens will also be able to register to vote, change their address and pick up an absentee ballot application at the forum. The deadline to register or make changes to vote for the General Election is Oct. 10. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot is Oct. 31.
A project of the Kent League and the League of Women Voters of Northern Portage County, the local Voters' Guide will be online by Oct. 11 at https://vote411.org. The guide, supported by LWV Kent, allows voters to enter their addresses and see candidate and issue information for their precinct.
A downloadable version of the LWV Kent Voters' Guide will be available Oct. 11, at the League webpage https://my.lwv.org/ohio/kent/voting for the first day of absentee or early voting on Oct. 11. The Record-Courier also publishes the guide content in print and online closer to the election. This year The Portager will also be printing the guide.
