- You don’t have to start out as an expert—you can learn as you go
- Feel free to try out an opportunity. You can unvolunteer for it if it's not a fit--we're flexible
- Every additional volunteer means we can do more together to advocate for change
Here are the current opportunities. Interested? Email lwvarlingtonva [at] gmail.com
Make voter registration happen
Organizational support for voter registration
This is a special call for volunteers to help out with organizing and scheduling the registration events, making sure that everything needed is in place. This behind-the-scenes work is critical to successful registration events. You will be fully trained and brought up to speed. Estimated 2-4 hours monthly; more in the run-up to elections and during high school registration efforts in the fall and winter.
We need volunteers for the following:
- Scheduling voter registration at large condo/apartment building complexes. (1 - 2 people)
- Scheduling voter registration at large events (like Clarendon Day). (1 person)
- Maintaining a bag of voter registration materials and coordinating delivery and pick up for voter registration events. (1- 2 people).
Make sure voters have access to the polls
Voter Access
We need one or two people to follow local and state voting access issues such as voting rights, voter suppression, methods of voting, and other related issues. Voter access issues cover everything related to voting except voter registration. Estimated 2-5 hours monthly.
Celebrate history
Arlington 250th Anniversary
The Arlington Historical Society is organizing celebrations in Arlington of the 250th Anniversary (Semiquincentennial) of United States independence. There will be a variety of volunteer opportunities from 2024-2026. We have been asked to participate in this historical event, and already have a few volunteers that will be organized into a team as this effort gets going.

With the exception of voter registration, we generally require that you be a member of the LWV to be a volunteer. That said, we have some flexibility. Contact Pam at lwvarlingtonva [at] gmail.com to talk about "try before you buy."
