Volunteer With Us

Is membership required?

With the exception of voter registration, we generally require that you be a member of the LWV to be a volunteer for the opportunities above. That said, we have some flexibility. Contact Pam at lwvarlingtonva [at] gmail.com to talk about "try before you buy."

  • You don’t have to start out as an expert—you can learn as you go
  • Feel free to try out an opportunity.  You can unvolunteer for it if it's not a fit--we're flexible
  • Every additional volunteer means we can do more together to advocate for change

Here are the current opportunities.  Interested?  Email lwvarlingtonva [at] gmail.com

Participate in Voter Education and Registration

As the nation’s largest and longest-standing grassroots voter registration organization, we work year-round to make sure all eligible Americans—especially first-time voters, non-college youth, new citizens, communities of color, and low-income Americans—have the opportunity to register and vote.

Graphic design

The League of Women Voters of Arlington & Alexandria City is seeking a volunteer graphic designer to create clear, accessible social media graphics and event flyers using Canva or similar tools. This highly flexible, seasonal role may require up to 5 hours a week during election cycles and little or no work at other times. Volunteers should have a good eye for design, respond to messages within a day or two, and be ready for occasional time-sensitive projects. Membership is encouraged but not required to start. Your designs will help share vital, nonpartisan information and strengthen our community’s democracy.

Farmer's Market Voter Registration Coordinator

Keep our farmers’ market voter registration efforts running by working with market contacts, organizing schedules, and making sure our teams have what they need: tables, chairs, forms, and League materials.

This position is one of the most essential parts of our voter outreach because this steady, behind-the-scenes coordination gives our volunteers the strong foundation they need to register voters.

Condo Elections Volunteers

LWVAAC proudly serves as a nonpartisan partner for condominium elections in Arlington and Alexandria. Our Condo Elections Team is currently supporting six elections and could use extra hands. We’re looking for: (1) volunteers to connect with additional condo communities, and (2) behind-the-scenes helpers to support the logistics of elections already underway. Contact us at condo.elections [at] lwvaac.org ()

Celebrate history

Arlington 250th Anniversary

The Arlington Historical Society is organizing celebrations in Arlington of the 250th Anniversary (Semiquincentennial) of United States independence. There will be a variety of volunteer opportunities from 2025-2026. We have been asked to participate in this historical event, and already have a few volunteers that will be organized into a team as this effort gets going.

LWV volunteer opportunities outside our local league

  • Climate:  Most climate legislation is happening at the state level. If climate is your jam, join the LWV Climate Interest Group
  • Fighting Mis/Disinformation:  LWV Virginia in partnership with VerbAI has established a fact checking website, VerbaAI Election News, that uses AI to find political statements and check them against known and trusted sites, including Snopes and FactCheck.org. The website will be live though the November election and beyond. As a League member, you can be active in locating and submmitting questionable stories for review through the LWVVA Combat Mis/Disinformation website.
