March in Peace. Act in Power.

What is “Good Trouble Lives On?”
Good Trouble Lives On is a National Day of Action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the current administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people. 

Coined by civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis, "Good Trouble" is the act of coming together to take peaceful, non-violent action to challenge injustice and create meaningful change. Good Trouble is marches, protests, service work – any action where communities come together, take a stand against wrongdoings, and speak truth to power. 

The civil rights leaders of the past have shown us the power of collective action. That’s why on July 17, five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, we’re calling on Americans across the country to Make Good Trouble Together.

                                                   League of Women Voters of Lynchburg

Time: 5:30 – 8:30 PM

They are teaming up with other groups for a peaceful song-filled protest. We will hold signs, do chants and sign songs. We will have water stations along the course. We plan to stop for a pause about halfway to reflect on the historical significance of the civil rights movement and on the ways that Lynchburg was involved. Please bring a water bottle and dress appropriately for the heat and sun. This event is rain or shine.

 Time: 6:30 PM 

LWV Richmond Metro is partnering with other organizations to participate  in Good Trouble. We will  gather on the grassy medians along Richmond’s Monument Avenue from Stuart Circle to Willow Lawn for a peaceful protest action including voter registration and education.  No street closures, no impeding foot or vehicular traffic, just a visible 3-mile protest action against the current administration, its policies, and their relentless assaults on our freedoms and democracy.
