Nevada County Elections Office News
Supervisors Appoint Armando Salud-Ambriz as New Registrar of Voters
Armando Salud-Ambriz, former deputy of elections for Yolo County, was appointed Nevada County’s new clerk-recorder/registrar of voters today. He will start his new position Oct. 13 under the condition that he moves to and registers to vote in Nevada County by that time. Read more here.
Natalie Adona, the Nevada County clerk-recorder/registrar of voters, resigned in June 2025 to accept an appointment as the Marin County Registrar of Voters, a position closer to her family. Our Nevada County Assistant Clerk-Recorder/Registrar of Voters, Corey O’Hayre, has assumed all of the duties and obligations of the office until the Board of Supervisors makes an appointment. A special election for this office is not allowed by law.
The county Board of Supervisors appointed two members of the Board to serve on an Ad Hoc committee guided the recruitment effort and vetted applicants. Finalist candidates appeared in a public meeting of the Board to be interviewed. The full Board selected the person appointed into the position.

Local Elected Official Elections
A proposed ordinance that would have aligned the elections for Assessor, Auditor-Controller, Treasurer-Tax Collector, and Clerk-Recorder/ROV appeared on a past agenda but was not addressed and has not been rescheduled for a future agenda.
The Board did vote at a 2025 Board meeting to request approval from the State to be added to the list of Counties authorized to appoint, rather than elect, the elections official. Nevada County was added to the amended Local Government Omnibus, which would add us and Kern County to the list, and it is pending passage by the state legislature. I don’t know at this juncture whether the Board will pursue making that change if/when the Omnibus is signed by the Governor. You can find the Omnibus here: https://legiscan.com/CA/text/SB858/id/3261054.
