Membership process changes

Membership process changes

Survey

Beginning next week, the League of Women Voters will officially transition to a new membership system for all Leagues across the country. We are excited about this transition as it will streamline our League’s administration of membership, and will increase our share of membership dues. On a League level, this is expected to increase membership around the country and increase our ability to empower voters and defend democracy.

On or around February 3rd, you will receive an email inviting you to log into the new portal where you can update your information, if you choose, including the option to sign up to auto-renew your membership annually. You will not be asked to re-up your membership until a year after your most recent renewal. If you renewed last March 2024, for example, you will be asked to renew this March 2025, and you will receive an email reminder to do so. If you have chosen to auto-renew in the portal, this will happen automatically, and you will receive notice of it prior to the renewal date.

We will soon be closing our PayPal account. If you have an auto-renewal already established in PayPal, it will automatically be deleted. You will not be charged for your membership twice. When you receive an email from the League about this transition, you can either log into the new portal to establish an auto-renewal payment, or, you can wait until you are reminded to renew on your membership anniversary.

Dues will no longer be a fixed rate but will be pay-what-you-can. The recommended dues amount for all members across the country will be $75, but members can pay any amount (min. $20).

There will still be the option to renew by check for members who don't use credit cards, but members who are able to access the portal and renew that way are encouraged to do so.

Under the new system, if you would like to make an additional contribution directly to the League of Women Voters of Nevada County, as some members choose to do when they renew, you will be able to do so via a separate Donate link. Please contact us if you need help with this.

More information will be included in the email around February 3rd. Thank you for your ongoing membership and support of the LWV of Nevada County!
