Social Media Volunteer Opportunity

We seek 4 volunteers to be part of our Social Media team. Ideally, one volunteer would coordinate Facebook posting schedules.

Expectations

  • Post on Facebook 1 week per month, 1-3 times in that week. This posting schedule is flexible and we can experiment with what works best.

  • Like and/or share other organizations’ relevant posts or information.

  • Engage with the FB audience. 

Topics for Facebook posts, to be collaborated with Social mMedia and/or Communications leads, are wide ranging. They could include upcoming League events, items of interest on state and national LWV websites and Facebook pages, articles published by reputable, non-partisan sources, fun and informative highlights about Nevada County League members, photos of events, thank you to volunteers, speakers, guests, etc. 

The main goal is to keep our Facebook audience engaged and hopefully to expand to new followers, so we are wide open to your ideas!

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Understanding of Facebook. 

  • Great communication skills.

  • Passion for the mission.

  • Conscientious and provides follow-through on all areas of responsibilities.

  • Organized, self-directed, and motivated.

  • Can work independently and also with a team in a positive manner.

  • Warm, compassionate and congenial in working with the public and other organizations.

Location:  Work can be done from home.  Additionally, there may be in-person or Zoom meetings with the Social Media team.

Position Overview and Impact: Volunteer with the League of Women Voters and be a part of empowering voters and defending democracy utilizing your social media skills. Social media is an excellent way for the League of Women Voters of Nevada County to connect with, and expand our audience, disseminate important information, promote events, and give our audience a peek into what the League is up to.

Our Mission is to protect voting rights and inspire civic engagement with courage and integrity as we engage with the community.

We are dedicated to unbiased voter education about elections, the voting process and public policy. Therefore, we do not advocate on issues, and we adhere to the nation-wide LWV policy of never supporting or opposing any political party or candidate.

To conduct our voter service and citizen education activities, resources are available to us from the National and California League of Women Voters Education Funds, which are 501(c)(3) corporations, nonprofit educational organizations. These resources are developed from a rich source of knowledge held and research conducted by our members nationwide.
