Time to Plan

Program is the League’s “reason for being.” It is the basis for education and action. This was the annual opportunity to help choose the issues (the program) on which the LWV California as well as our local and county Leagues should focus time, talents, money, and reputations. In the program planning process members can think strategically about the League's work. 

• Where is the need greatest? 
• Where can the League be most effective? 
• What activities best serve our mission, and are they supported by our positions? 
• What is the indirect impact of these choices, particularly on membership recruitment and retention, fundraising, and our reputation?

Consider a few important ideas to prepare for program planning. Should our League recommend redistricting and/or healthcare reform as issues for emphasis?  After the 2020 Census legislative district boundaries will be redrawn. Should redistricting be an area for action?  If you think healthcare needs repair and improvements to guarantee access and affordability, should healthcare reform be an area for action?  Are there other issues you would recommend for action by the LWVC and our League?
