Housing and Homelessness was established as an Area of Emphasis for LWVC at the 2019 California State League convention. A statewide task force of League members was authorized to study the housing and homelessness crisis in California. In August 2020 the League adopted the State Action Policy on Homelessness, to support the State League Housing and Homelessness Position, as presented by the taskforce.
With the Housing and Homelessness Position and Action Policy now adopted by the State League Board, the LWV Orange Coast league Housing and Homelessness Action Team (HAT), which formed August 2019, will be advocating on issues of housing, shelters, rent support, and other issues as outlined in the State Position and Policy.
