Healthcare Interest Group         

Misssion

The Healthcare Interest Group both educates and advocates, when appropriate, on health topics ranging from women’s health, aging, public health issues, legislation and more. The LWV states in Impact on Issues that a basic level of quality health care should be available to all US residents.

Responsibilities

• Form and maintain a list of interested members and non-members

• Form initial list from survey, attendance at meetings and reaching out to membership

• Be familiar with LWVC and LWVUS Healthcare positions

• Be alert to relevant issues in OC Cities and Orange County from:

           -- Observation reports sent by Observer Corps

           --  Information provided by other groups such as UCI Public Health  

           -- Information provided by group members

           -- Newspapers and other sources

• Educate interest group members, non-members and, when appropriate, all OC members on the issues of concern to the Healthcare Interest Group

            -- Email Interest Group members on relevant issues

            -- Hold virtual, in-person or hybrid meetings, with or without speakers, to discuss Health issues.

• Collaborate with other nonpartisan groups with similar interests
