Here’s your chance to participate in grass-roots democracy and keep making democracy work doing what the League does best.

There will be elections on June 7 for school boards and municipal offices in several of our cities, and the community is already turning to LWV-PA to provide trusted, nonpartisan, and competent management of candidate forums. We have already been asked to do forums for Monrovia elected officials, Pasadena City College trustees, and Pasadena City Council primaries, and it’s likely that more are to come.

This year, most communities we serve are planning to hold in-person forums, some outside and others indoors, and we will require that they follow strict COVID protocols, but we are prepared if necessary to return to Zoom, which worked so well for us in 2020. Right now, we need to have a robust bench of League volunteers to handle question sorting, timing, and moderating. An experienced core group is already on hand and will provide orientation and training for anyone interested in learning more.

Training will begin on Monday, April 4, and sessions will be scheduled through April 15. Most forums will be held during the last two weeks of April and the first two weeks of May. Please take advantage of this opportunity to do the hands-on work that keeps democracy alive and well in our communities. You will enjoy learning about the local issues that concern our citizens the most. To learn more, contact forums [at] lwv-pa.org—no commitment!
