Education Committee

The Education Committee directs the use of League program positions to help ensure all schools
in our member communities provide an excellent education to all students. It promotes
awareness and skills for political participation within the schools.
 
Education Committee Priorities

State & Federal Legislation
 
1. Continue monitoring and advocating for legislation that promotes student access to  
    learning, as well as transparency and accountability for public schools.
 

Within Public School Districts of the LWV-PA geographical area: 

2. Maintain Observations of School Board meetings.
 
3. Support K-12 Civic Learning in Districts within LWV-PA.
 
4. Learn of the training of high school student journalists, with an emphasis on how they
    determine fact from fiction.
 
5. Support the recognition of diverse student populations, to have equitable opportunities for
    their academic and personal success.
 
6. Follow the development of ethnic studies courses in our public schools, including their
    benefits and controversies.
