Our league is committed to increasing the participation of our youngest voters. In our most recent election less than 20% of eligible 18-25-year-olds voted. When we asked students how they get their information, they overwhelmingly told us they get it through TikTok and social media. As a result, we're venturing into the world of TikTok @lwv.solano.county.
We are excited to sponsor a TikTok “Why Vote” Contest. Participants will create a TikTok video that expresses why voting is important. Participants must be 18-27 years old and live in Solano County.
Videos will be judged based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and impact. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third-place winners. We will share the winning videos and hope to reach our newest voters! The contest will be rolled out in the coming weeks and winners will be announced in early October.
Here's the 411 on our TikTok the Vote Contest
The goal of this contest is to encourage young people to vote!
Create a TikTok that expresses why voting is important and how it impacts you personally for a chance to win prizes!
Cash Prizes:
- 1st place - $200
- 2nd place -$100
- 3rd place - $50
Submission Details:
- Tag @lwv.solano.county on TikTok
- Use #LWVSolano
- Email your video to lwvsolano [at] gmail.com with your first and last name (winners will be contacted via email)
Video Requirements:
- Length: 15-60 seconds long
- Must be an original creation
- Must be submitted between Sept. 17th - October 11th
Eligibility:
- Must be between 18-27 years old
- Must be a resident of Solano Country
Judging Criteria:
- Relevance to the theme
- Creativity and originality
- Clarity and impact
- Videos may be shared publicly by LWV Solano
Our goal is to help Gen Z understand how important their voice is and why voting matters. As part of our commitment, we have partnered with the Solano County of Education and Solano Community College to provide voter education and support voter registration efforts.
