Program Planning & Events (PPE) New 2021-22 Standardized Scheduling for Program Events!
Background:
  • At the July 17th Retreat, Craig shared a basic program template with a flow of program events across a full year. It is the hope of PP&E members that our three program priorities will be addressed in a systematic fashion with an emphasis on priorities that achieved the highest approval ratings by our members.
  • Also at the Retreat… quarterly General Meetings were put on the calendar with the expectation that each General Meeting would have a program emphasis. The first General Meeting in the first quarter of our 2021-2022 program year included a presentation from the Climate Change priority.
  • PP&E conversations following the retreat have focused on how we can create a program infrastructure for an ongoing flow of relevant, informative, and interactive events to address our program priorities. In addition… each PP&E event will identify a set of expected outcomes that can be used at the end of each program year to assess the effectiveness of our program work.
  • In conversations with PP&E members, Board members, and other League members, it appears that a standardized schedule for program events would facilitate greater engagement by League members and community members.

The following PPE Proposal was approved unanimously at the October 21, 2021 Board meeting. The organizational meeting for this new plan was held on Tuesday, October 26th.
  • The first Thursday of every month will be a LWVS program date, including both General Meetings and focused program events, effective November 2021… in addition:
    • Reschedule the 12/7/21 General Meeting to Thursday, 12/2/21
    • Reschedule the 3/8/22 General Meeting to Thursday, 3/3/22
    • Confirm the Thursday, 6/2/22 General Meeting date
    • Enlist League members into Program Action Teams… an action team for each of our program priorities. A robust program infrastructure requires focused core groups to identify program content, community engagement partners, expected outcomes, and event logistics. Tuesday, 10/26 will be our first PP&E outreach meeting to include League members into our Program Action Teams. It takes sweat equity to fully engage our League and community members in meaningful actions.
    • Directly connect all program initiatives and events with the appropriate League positions at the national and state levels to better understand the context of each issue and to identify possible advocacy opportunities.
    • Incorporate a brief (two minutes or less) Engagement Moment into each Board meeting, focusing the Board’s attention on how our program priorities can make a difference in Solano County.

We’ll keep you apprised of upcoming events in our email updates. If you’re interested in being a part of the PPE team, please lwvsolano [at] gmail.com Att: Craig or Rami.
