Dear League Members,
I know that many of you are disturbed about the rise of gun violence in our communities and particularly in our schools. We, the LWV Solano, are forming an AdHoc committee to create a plan on how we can use our voice (collectively and individually) to address this horrible situation.
We want to call this committee: Gun Responsibility: a Path to a Safer Future,
Our plan will use the three part format we have used all year:
Inform - using speakers and assorted readings
Inspire - a student forum (with teachers as well) or summit that talks about what it means to grow up in the era of active shooter drills
Pathway to Action - Connecting to the work of the state and National LWV, Marches, and a Letter Writing campaign to put pressure on the 50 Senators who are blocking HR8.
Potential Speakers include: Rob Bonta, Matthew McConaughey, Mike Thompson, Students and Teachers
Community Partners: ACSA, Moms Demand Action
