Woodland League of Women Voters' "Democracy Working.....Series" presents "The League's Spring Series Focused on the School Board"
Schools at all levels are impacted dramatically by the pandemic making them constant frontpage news. Students, parents, teachers and the community ask piercing questions, demanding answers and on the hot seat in Woodland is the joint unified school district’s board of trustees. The League of Women Voters’ next event in its Spring Series “Democracy Working” spotlights the three new members joining this Board during a very challenging time. Representing Areas 3, 4 & 5 respectively are Bibiana Garcia, Noel Rodriquez and Kandice Richardson Fowler. The League’ intent is to provide the community with an opportunity to meet these new trustees, learn about their backgrounds, their motivation for seeking a board seat and the goals they set for their term. Issues, interests and challenges they see for the District as well as in their individual areas represented will be explored.
The Series event is Wednesday, April 24th at 12 noon and is presented LIVE virtually to ticket holders who will enjoy their delicious and delivered box lunch catered by the local Raley’s Deli, as well as the Leagues’ Signature Carrot Cake made especially for the Series by local master baker, Mary Ann.
Those without tickets can view the event on the Leagues website, on their Facebook page as well as on local cable Channel 21 all starting on April 25th.
The final event of this well received Series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 19th at 12 Noon. It is focused on the three new Woodland City Council members Victoria Fernandez, Mayra Vega and Tania Garcia-Cadena. Sponsorships for the series are still being encouraged. Both tickets and sponsor forms are available for this virtual presentation by downloading the Series order form from the League website, my.lwv.org/California/woodland, by email request at woodlandleaguenews [at] gmail.com or @ 530-383-3143.
