The League of Women Voters of Delaware is hosting a celebration of the League’s 100th birthday and invites you to attend.
The event will be held at the Rehoboth Beach Historical Society Museum in Rehoboth Beach at 5pm on February 14th.
The featured speaker, Dr. Cynthia Newton, is the Chair of the Political Science Department at Wesley College. She will present “From Civil Disobedience to the Ballot Box,” setting the stage for the League’s centennial theme, “Women Power the Vote.” A reception follows.
The League was founded by suffrage leaders in 1920, the same year that the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was ratified. During the past decade, Leagues have registered voters, informed their communities on the issues, advocated in their legislatures, and helped shape their communities as well as the country.
The League welcomes all well-wishers to join them, at no charge, for the program and “Prosecco and Pastries Reception.” The event is free but seating is limited so registration is required. Please register by 2/11, using the Eventbrite link below.
