On June 1, 2019, two Sussex League members, Carol Jones and Sue Claire Harper, were elected co-Presidents of the League of Women Voters of Delaware.

National Popular Vote bill signed by Gov. Carney

League members joined legislators and supporters as Governor Carney signed the National Popular Vote bill on League Day in Dover, 3/28/19.  The League held forums to educate the public about the bill prior to its passing the legislature.

The League of Women Voters along with the ACLU and Common Cause of Delaware held a panel discussion on the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact at Sussex County Council Chambers on 3/3/19. UPDATE:  The Delaware Legislature passed the NPV bill on 3/14/19.

The League of Women Voters of Sussex County was proud to participate in the annual parade celebrating the life of Martin Luthur King, Jr. on 1/19/19 in Lewes.

Voter Services committee members help the community with voter registration and provide information on absentee voting, etc.  Events like this are held frequently prior to elections to provide nonpartisan information to encourage active participantion in our democracy.

UPDATE 6/11/19 : Sussex County Council voted 3-2 to require developers to build their cluster subdivisions with a "superior design," in order to preserve more open space. That means developers must meet a certain amount of open space, setbacks and preservation.
