SPEAKER BIO

Governor Joshua Booth Green, M.D. is the ninth governor of Hawai`i. A member of the Democratic Party, he served as the 14th lieutenant governor of Hawai`i from 2018 to 2022, a member of the State Senate (District 3) from 2008 to 2018, and as a member of the House of Representatives (District 6) from 2004 to 2008.

His background as an emergency room doctor placed him at the forefront of Hawaii’s response to COVID-19. In 2020, then-Governor Ige appointed Lt. Gov. Green as the administration’s liaison between the state and healthcare community. Armed with a whiteboard and backed by the state government’s drive to vaccinate residents and take other steps, Hawaii had the lowest death rate from COVID of any state in the nation.

When he took office, Gov. Green’s top priority was to address the affordability of living in Hawaii. His proposed solutions included eliminating the excise tax on food, medicine and women’s hygiene products; tax relief for ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) families; and expediting and funding construction of affordable housing.

Come hear how Governor Green's agenda fared in the 2023 State Legislative session and what bills he may or may not sign into law.
