Our Plan for 2026

Our Plan for 2026

Summary of May 3, 2026 Program Planning Meeting

The goal of the meeting was to develop consensus around the issues that our chapter members think are the highest priority for focus in the July 2026-June 2027 year.  As a fully volunteer organization with limited resources, your leadership team is seeking guidance that will inform our events, actions, and advocacy over the coming year.  Nothing happens without the support of our members.

The Process

Starting with a list of national focus issues being proposed for adoption at the LWV Biennial National Convention in June 2026, we added three issues that have been of particular interest to our local chapter members.  Our starting list of issues was:

  • Voting Rights
  • Election Protection
  • Individual Liberties
  • Balance of Power and The Presidency
  • Immigration
  • Education
  • Accessible Housing
  • Environmental Protection

Breaking down into groups of 5-6, we reviewed and then talked about each of the issues and the more specific League positions that attach to them.  (View summaries of these positions here)  After 30 minutes of discussion, each group then ranked the issues in order of importance for LWVLGA focus.

Using a priority weighted coring system, we developed clear consensus among all groups that our priorities for 2026-2027 should be:

  • Voting Rights
  • Election Protections
  • Individual Liberties

Next Steps
