Lake Park High School District 108, Bloomingdale Public Library, Itasca Community Library, and Roselle Public Library welcomed award-winning author, Arshay Cooper, as he presented the true story behind A Most Beautiful Thing. His memoir shares the story of a group of young men growing up on Chicago’s West side who formed the first all-black high school rowing team in the nation and, in doing so, transformed a sport and their lives.
Mr. Cooper presented to students during a school assembly and to the community the following day. After a video promoting his documentary, A Most Beautiful Thing, Arshay began his presentation by reading emails that students and a teacher from Lake Park sent to him - they are quite moving and we encourage you to watch. We thank Lake Park High School for sharing this video.
LWVRB hosted two book discussions in conjunction with the Lake Park Reads Community Event. One via Zoom on Wednesday, April 20, and a second to be held in person Saturday, April 23, from 10 am to 11 am at the Roselle Public Library, 40 Park St, Roselle.
