The 2023 Belmont LWV Citizenship Award was given to Bianca Umana-Taylor this past June. Bianca is a Belmont High School Graduate, Class of 2023.

Bianca was presented with a book and a check for $250. The award recipient was selected by an Awards Committee comprised of Belmont HS teachers.

I met with Bianca Umana-Taylor in August. What a wonderful, deserving recipient of the League of Women Voters Belmont citizenship award. Bianca is a delightful, enthusiastic, and interesting young woman.

She moved from Phoenix to Medellin, Colombia for seventh grade and then to Belmont starting in 8th grade. This next year she will attend American University in Washington, DC where she plans to study social and political economy, and major in justice and law.

This summer Bianca travelled- to Cape Cod with her family, back to Colombia to visit family and friends, and then in Europe with friends. She has two brothers in the Belmont school system- middle school and high school.

We talked about adventures and plans and her interest in social issues. Bianca is very interested in the League of Women Voters and what issues they study and advocate. She would like to continue being in touch with the Belmont league.”
