We make voting easier through varied voter education programs.
The League of Women Voters Education Fund conducts voter service and citizen education activities. It is a nonpartisan nonprofit public policy educational organization. The Voters Education Fund works to build citizen participation in the democratic process.
Voter Education Fund Activities
The Voters Education Fund pays for preparing, printing, and distributing the Voter Guide. The Voter Guide is published every spring to inform Belmont voters as they go to the polls in April to elect township officers and members of Town Meeting. The Voter Guide provides information on all the candidates - those seeking town-wide office as well as those running for Town Meeting. The Voter Guide offers every candidate the opportunity to submit a concise statement about their positions on current issues. The Guide allows Belmont voters to review all the statements submitted by the candidates and to make informed choices in the voting booth. As an organization, the League of Women Voters is nonpartisan and does not support or oppose any individual candidate for elective office.
In addition, the Voters Education Fund sponsors a Candidates Night several days before the election. During this virtual event, voters meet with and ask questions of the candidates, ensuring that voters can be as informed as possible when they vote.
