To Members and Supporters of the League of Women Voters of the Ann Arbor Area:

Watching the events at the US Capitol today (and perhaps for the next several days) we know that many of you are worried for our country, and frightened by what has unfolded.  It's important that we not ramp up the anger and add to the chaotic response to this.  It is our strength that we can offer a reasoned voice that underscores the strength of our democracy.  That's who we are, it's what we do, and it is how we defend our democracy.  This nation will get through the challenge of the next few weeks, and the League will help to lead the way to a stronger republic that represents the best of all of us. The Board and I look forward to working with each of you to make that happen.

Joan Sampieri, President   LWV of the Ann Arbor Area, Serving all of Washtenaw County

LWVMI shared this Statement by THE NATIONAL TASK FORCE ON ELECTION CRISES, a diverse, cross-partisan group of more than 50 experts in election law, election administration, nationa' security, cybersecurity, voting rights, civil rights, technology, media, public health, and emergency response.
