Getting Involved

Periodic Orientation meetings are a way to meet people and learn about the League and how to become involved.  Check the Calendar to see if an Orientation is scheduled.

Voter Service -  contact voterservices [at] lwvwashtenaw.org
  • Creates and disseminates voter information related to elections (May, August and November)
  • Assists with voter registration programs (on-going throughout the year) 
  • Assists with Candidate Forums as a timer, greeter and/or moderator
  • Helps prepare questions for candidates based on current events, issues, and legislation
  • Manages VOTE411.org for Washtenaw County 
  • Hosts information booths at community events such as Art Fair, festivals, colleges 
  • Observes public accuracy test of voting machines in each municipality with election clerk prior to elections

  • Facilitate communication between League committees needing volunteers and new members/volunteers.
  • Help members learn about the League and how to join in
  • Use social media, tables at public events and other strategies.
  • Coordinate distribution of membership information at all public events.
  • Present orientation sessions, live and on-line, to facilitate member engagement.
  • Engage in outreach work to individuals in historicially under-represented communities and groups.

  • Attend local governmental unit meetings and provide feedback
  • Recruit and  train additional volunteers for this new program
 Technology & Communications -  contact communications [at] lwvwashtenaw.org
  • Email management, newsletter, website, Facebook, graphic design, publicity.  Bring your technical skills to help communicate to the community and our membership.
  • Be a reporter to help get out the truth by writing up events or researching topics
  • Be a Zoom tech to support all our on-line meetings
  • Work with our email system - post and send messages provided by League teams.
