Committees and Groups 2019-2020

Census 2020 Education - Help us inform the public about the 2020 Census by

    • Providing educational presentations to area groups regarding importance of 2020 Census
    • Train members to give the LWVMI presentation about census
    • Find organizations who want the presentation 

Centennial Celebration- is an active committee. LWVAAA is leading a consortium of museums, libraries and women’s organizations from across the county in planning events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the year women won the right to vote. The consortium's name is Votes for Women 100, Washtenaw  You can help by  

    • Spreading the word about the Votes for Women 100 website
    • Serving  as greeters/docents at our Liberty Awakes exhibit
    • Marching with the League in the AA Jaycees 4th of July parade

 WEMU Bi-weekly Broadcasts -  10 minute pre-recorded  interviews on LWVAAA topics is one of the ways we reach out to the public. You can help by serving as part of the team scheduling guests, who talk about topics related to League mission, and developing background information. 

 Technology & Communications - Email management, newsletter, website, Facebook, graphic design, publicity.  Bring your technical skills to us to help  communicate to the community and our membership. We are looking for 

    •  webmaster(s) to be responsible for a portion of the site - calendar, news, etc.
    •  Reasonably-tech-savvy person to work with email system - post and send messages provided by League teams.

 Voter Service - Oversees voter information related to elections (May, August and November);

    • Assist with voter registration programs (on going throughout the year) 
    • Assist with  Candidate Forums  as a time, greeter and/or moderator
    • Help  prepare questions based on current events, issues and legislation

 Advocacy – New committee establishing action/study priorities

    • Seeking members to serve as legislative watchdogs
    • Needs input to determine member interest in specific issues

  Program Committee-

    • Help plans and coordinate events
    • Assist with the December event


    •  Help members learn about the League and how to join in
    •  Staff a membership table at League public events

 Observer Corps -

    • Attend local governmental unit meetings and provide feedback
    • Recruit and  train additional volunteers for this new program

 Monthly Events: Brews and Views  and Lunch and Learn monthly noontime event

    •  Assist in scheduling monthly speakers on various topics of interest
    • Recruiting additional committee members to this committee

 Information Table at Events  such as Art Fair Help by:

    • Coordinating the  staffing and set up of booth
    • Being part of the committee to handle logistics, scheduling
    • Take a turn or two staffing the booth, talking with passersbys, handing out literature
