If you receive a ballot in the mail, you don’t have to return it by mail.

Voters can return their absentee ballot in its signed envelope to the assigned secure drop box in their city or township. (NOTE:  do not use just any box - it must be the one assigned for your address on your voter registration.)

Drop boxes look like postal boxes but are specifically designed to securely store ballots.

Local clerks and their staff regularly collect absentee ballots from drop boxes and securely transfer them to the clerk’s office, where they are stored until processing begins.

Deadline

You must return your ballot to a drop box in your community by 8 p.m. on Election Day. A ballot returned after the deadline will not be counted.
