2020 - 2021 Healthcare Study

2020 - 2021 Healthcare Study

EVALUATION OF NEW NYSLWV POSITION STATEMENT  HEALTHCARE AND HEALTHCARE FINANCING

The Syracuse LWV will be hold a consensus meeting on Feburary 10, 2011 at noon to decide if the State League's position should be updated.

The Consensus Meeting is for Members Only

As part of a national study group on healthcare we have had the opportunity in the last 3 months to review many studies and articles, participate in discussions and share ideas with other league members and health professionals from across the country. This is in preparation to provide the Syracuse members with several learning opportunities and help in evaluating the changes the NYSLWV has made to their positions on healthcare and healthcare financing. We will be asked to vote in early 2021 on these two questions.

1.Do you accept the new position on Healthcare?

2.Do you accept the new position on Financing of Healthcare?

The 2019 NYS Convention charged the Healthcare Committee with updating the LWVNY position on Financing Healthcare (which was originally adopted in 1985 and last revised in 1991) with particular consideration of the manner in which single-payer legislation such as the NY Health Act could be fiscally viable, that is, the financial criteria we believe a single-payer system should meet, including the feasibility of implementing single payer at the NYS level and consideration of how it might impact Medicare.

There are many ways for you to be involved and to learn more about the state of healthcare in the US and in NYS. Below are some links you may be interested in. We plan to have additional information and discussions at up coming meetings and, ideally, maybe virtually, a presentation and question and answer session that would be open to the public.
