Congress Must Act to Protect the Nation from the Plague of Gun Violence

Time Range For Action Alert:
December 6, 2021 to January 31, 2022

For far too long, Congress has been apathetic to the gun violence that plagues our nation. Before we were even halfway through 2021, our country experienced over 147 mass shootings. The senseless shootings in Atlanta, Boulder, and Indianapolis, are just a few of the many tragedies that we've been forced to grapple with.

The Biden Administration has taken executive action to help curb our gun violence epidemic, but these reforms can only do so much, and executive authority can only go so far. Now is the time for Congress to step up and pass common-sense gun violence prevention reforms, such as universal background checks, closing the gun show loophole, and banning assault weapons.

The House of Representatives has already passed HR 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, which is the first step in transforming gun safety laws in our country. This legislation now sits before the Senate.

Tell your senators they must act now and pass the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and save Americans from the terror of gun violence.
