Frances Perkins was the first woman appointed to a President’s cabinet. As the Secretary of the Department of Labor during the FDR administration, Perkins was the driving force of the New Deal. She is responsible for the creation of a minimum wage, the 40 hour work week, unemployment insurance, overtime pay, and banning of child labor. Today, her home in Newcastle, Maine, was preserved as Frances Perkins National Monument and the 433rd National Park Service site. #FindYourLaborReform #FrancesPerkins
