The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working on vital issues of concern to members and the public.

The League of Women Voters of Utica-Rome Metro Area serves the people of Utica, Rome, Herkimer and the surrounding areas of Upstate NY.

  • Register to vote or update your registration if you’ve moved or changed your name. 
  • Check your voter registration! It’s always good to check the information your local election official has on file.
  • Share an “I’m registered” image after registering, updating your registration, or checking your registration status.   
  • Learn about early and mail-in voting opportunities in your state. 
  • If you’re eligible to vote-by-mail in your state, request your ballot by mail as early as you can. 
  • Check VOTE411 to find your polling location, if you’ll be voting in person.

This proposal amends Article 1, Section 11 of the New York Constitution. Section 11 now protects against unequal treatment based on race, color, creed, and religion.

Voices and Votes: Democracy in America is adapted from the exhibition American Democracy: A Great Leap of Faith currently on display at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. This traveling exhibition includes many of the same dynamic features: historical and contemporary photographs; educational and archival video; engaging multimedia interactives, and historical objects like campaign souvenirs, voter memorabilia, and protest material.

The League of Women Voters endorses Ranked Choice Voting for use in local, state and federal elections to bring more voices into our political process and ensure outcomes that more accurately reflect the will of the voters.

Short videos that our members made that will assist new or interested citizens in navigating the voting process, from obtaining a registration form, early voting and including voting absentee. 

On May 4, 2021 the governor signed legislation that allows anyone on parole to vote in all elections. The final video is addressed to all parolees.
