2023-24 Advocacy and Education Program: Outlook for Work on Environmental Issues

  2. Bigger Better Bottle Bill (S237/A6353)
  3. The Packaging Reduction and Recycling Act (S4246/A5322)

LWVW has taken action regarding air quality, energy, land use, waste management, water resources, issues specific to Indian Point Energy Center, a nuclear power plant, and the efforts of the Army Corps of Engineers to protect the harbors of NY and NJ from storm surge. Past efforts also include an influential study on sewage that led County Government to adopt legislation strengthening the laws in this area and a Wa$te Wi$e Westchester conference at the County Center to spur early recycling efforts..
