There will be a live event on March 10 @ 6:00 @ SUNY POLY (Kunsela Hall) during which the local students who participated in the event and made it past the 1st round of judging will be reading from their essays and respond to questions from a panel of judges. League member Sharen Barboza will be one of the judges.

Democracy During Detention spotlights the thousands of eligible New Yorkers held in local jails who are routinely denied access to the ballot. This webinar will explore how the Democracy During Detention Act (S440/A2121) ensures that Boards of Elections—not incarcerated individuals—are responsible for guaranteeing access to registration and voting.
Tom Moats, from VVS School District & Oneida-Madison-Herkimer BOCES will speak to us about the importance of such service and provide insight on what is involved in running and serving in these capacities. This presentation is open to the public.
