2022 Election Information

Change of Party Enrollment

Because February 14th falls on a Sunday and is immediately followed by a Monday holiday, the State Board of Elections has stated voters must submit their party enrollment change by Friday, February 12th. However, the New York City Board of Elections has said it will extend this deadline and open its general office on Sunday, February 14th to accept party change requests. (Any changes made after February 14 though June 28 will not take affect until June 29, 2021.  Outside of that time frame, party enrollment changes take place immediately.)

The League is urging voters to submit their party change request before Friday, February 12th as the request must be received by that date. Voters with a valid DMV issued ID or license can change their party online by refilling their voter registration on the DMV website at https://voterreg.dmv.ny.gov/.

Voters without a DMV issued ID or license can update their party affiliation by resubmitting a paper voter registration form. Voters can find the English form https://www.elections.ny.gov/.../voteregform-eng-fillable...and the Spanish form here:  https://www.elections.ny.gov/.../voteregform-span....

(Any changes made after February 14 though June 28 will not take affect until June 29, 2021.  Outside of that time frame, party enrollment changes take place immediately.)
