November 29, 2022 Chappaqua Central School District Bond Vote

Facilities Improvements & School Safety Bond Referenda

Tuesday, November 29, 20227am to 9 pmHorace Greeley High School Gymnasium 

 

REFERENDUM #1: Infrastructure Repairs and Upgrades. The total cost associated with this first proposal is $33,985,000. 

 

REFERENDUM #2: Single Point of Entrance at Horace Greeley High School. The total cost associated with this second proposal is $11,340,000.

 

Voter Eligibility 

In order to vote in the Chappaqua Central School District's Annual Budget Vote/Election on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, you must be a registered voter and a resident of the school district.

Eligibility requirements: To be eligible to vote you must:

  • be a citizen of the United States.
  • be at least 18 years old by November 29, 2022 (the date of the vote).
  • be a resident of the school district for at least 30 days prior to November 29, 2022.
  • be registered with either the school district's board of registration or with the county board of elections. If you have previously registered to vote, but have not voted in either a school district or general election in the last four years, you must re-register to vote.

Registration: 

You may register in person with the District Clerk at the Chappaqua School District Education Center, 66 Roaring Brook Road, Chappaqua, New York, 10514 during regular business hours, up to five (5) days before the vote. The last day to register to vote is Wednesday, November 23, 2022.

Absentee Ballots:  

Do you or your family members need an absentee ballot for the November 29 CCSD bond referendum?

Absentee ballot applications are available from Liisa Elsner, District Clerk at the Education Center during regular business hours (8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) or by downloading the application by clicking HERE.

District Clerk Liisa Elsner will be in her office at the Education Center every weekday from 8 am to 4 pm through November 29 other than Thanksgiving Day. You can walk in to her office with a completed absentee ballot application (must be original signature, not a scan) and pick up an absentee ballot at the same time.

Have a child or spouse who can not get in to the District Clerk’s office? They may authorize you to pick one up for them (item 6 on absentee ballot application). Absentee ballots may be obtained in person through 4 pm on Monday November 28. If you prefer to mail in your absentee ballot application and receive one back by mail, your application must be received be Tuesday, November 22. Absentee ballot applications should be submitted in original form, with the original signature. If you are requesting that the ballot be mailed to the voter, the application must be submitted at least seven days before the vote/election (November 22, 2022). If the ballot will be personally picked up by the voter, the application may be submitted up to the day before the vote (November 28, 2022).

Absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5:00 p.m. on the day of the vote (November 29, 2022) in order to be counted.

This page provides access to all of the information put out by CCSD and includes a "tax impact calculator" that homeowners may use to obtain an estimated annual cost for the two propositions. There are no more in person information sessions scheduled. The October 13 "Public Forum" Webinar put on by the CCSD can be viewed on YouTube. Public Input

There is a form on the CCSD website page which allows school district residents to provide feedback on the propositions. However, the time for public input on the process and proposals has passed. Your vote is your voice. LWVNC urges residents of the Chappaqua Central School District to take the time to educate themselves and to vote on November 29 from 7 am to 9 pm in the gymnasium at Horace Greeley High School.
