Tickets are selling briskly for the 2021 Spring Series, “DEMOCRACY WORKing…in Woodland”, a three-part series presented by the League of Women Voters. The entire Series is focused on providing an opportunity to meet new members of the Board of Supervisors, Woodland School Board and City Council. The March 24th “Kickoff” event features newly elected District 5 Supervisor Angel Barajas who took his seat on the Board mid-January, 2021. The Series’ first event on March 24th begins at 12 noon Live via Zoom for ticketholders who will also enjoy a delivered Box Lunch prepared by the Barajas Deli. Each lunch comes complete with the Leagues’ traditional Carrot Cake, a delicious creation by local baker, Mary Ann.
The April 21st event will feature the three new Woodland School District Board Members Noel J. Rodriquez, Bibiana Garcia and Kandice Richardson Fowler with a delivered Box Lunch prepared by Raley’s Deli. The May 19th event, bringing the Series to a close, will feature Woodland City Council members Victoria Fernandez, Mayra Vega and Tania Garcia-Cadena who was appointed to fill the 3rd District seat vacated by Supervisor Barajas. All three events begin at 12 noon Live via Zoom for ticketholders.
The League is encouraging community members to purchase a Series or Individual Event ticket as a great way to become more acquainted with our new Boards and council members and to hear firsthand about their interest, concerns and issues unique to the district they represent .As this is the League’s only fundraiser for the year Community Sponsors are being sought from our local business, organizations and individuals who encourage the Leagues involvement in educational and informational activities. Sponsors will be featured on our Series program and delivery bags as well as, in the VOTER, on the League website and Facebook page and in local press articles.

Following the final event, the lucky ticket will be drawn awarding our “Yolo County Bounty” Basket filled with local wines, rice, olive oil, nuts, honey and other delicious local products to enjoy.
