The Sussex County proposed redistricting map released on December 14 by the county attorney follows closely the map proposed by the League. In fact, the proposed map from the county uses the League map as its base and then explains sight changes (due in large part to county attempts to follow school board districts where possible).
Public comment is due January 7th. A draft ordinance will be prepared by January 11th. Public hearings will be held in February.
An open issue is the practice in all three counties of not having all candidates run in the new districts, as is done with the members of the General Assembly, but follow the established election schedule. This is an issue the Fair Maps Coalition is expected to study for possible legislative change.
