Location
To many residents of the Lowcountry, the local Latino community’s culture, language, successes, and needs are unknown. This documentary experience will help to humanize the local Latino community and to note immigrants’ challenges and achievements. The documentary, created by two local college students, presents stories of first and second-generation Latino immigrant youth.
Refreshments begin at 6:00, followed by the showing of the documentary and then a Q&A with Silvia Maria Martinez, Lydia Cotton, and Maribel Acosta. A voter registration table will also be on-site.
Funds from the LWV Lori Glenn Memorial Fund support this event. LWV Charleston, The Citadel, and Circulo Hispanoamericano de Charleston are co-sponsors.
We request that attendees voluntarily wear masks. (Masks are not required on the Citadel campus.)
The film will be shown in Buyer Auditorium inside Mark Clark Hall on the Citadel's campus. Space is limited so please reserve your seat in advance!
