One of the most exciting activities we can perform as a League member is helping people vote! This is our core competency. We started the Voter Hotline in the 2020 Election as one of the many ways we can really make a difference - helping people find when and where to vote, guiding them to find more information about ballot proposals or those running for office.

Best of all, this is volunteering that can be done in your home while watching TV or streaming video! You will need your own laptop, computer, or smartphone; the League will provide Tracfones. You will have a specific time slot when calls will be rerouted from the hotline number (the League’s office phone number) to your Tracfone or your own cellphone if you prefer, typically during a two- to four-hour shift in the two weeks running up to an election.

We work as a team, and most of us like to volunteer for a couple of shifts during the early voting period. There is no pressure to work extra shifts, and when you’re off-duty, you’re off-duty! Overlapping shifts are typically scheduled in the 2:00–7:00 p.m. time frame. Election Day itself has longer hours and more shifts, usually from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

You will be given the links to specific websites that have the answers for such questions as:

• How do I track my ballot?
• Am I registered?
• Where is my local official ballot drop box?
• What do I need to include in my vote-by-mail ballot?
• How do I find my polling place?

Training will be held on Zoom. Three sessions are scheduled, and you need only attend one:

• Monday, May 23, 5:00 p.m.,
• Tuesday, May 24, 7:00 p.m., or
• Saturday, May 28, 9:00 p.m.
