Apprenticeship Preparation Program
On June 28, members of the Social Justice Committee attended a graduation ceremony for those completing the Apprenticeship Preparation Program from Flintridge Center in Pasadena. Twenty students received certificates of achievement and were honored by local officials.
The Flintridge Center’s mission is “to break the cycle of poverty and violence through community planning, innovation, and action.” The Apprenticeship Preparation Program was developed ten years ago to help formerly incarcerated and gang-impacted individuals secure union apprenticeships. Individuals in the program must complete a ten-week, 240-hour program. The program includes an apprenticeship curriculum and certification created by North America’s Building Trades Unions.
After the ceremony a buffet dinner was served to very proud family members and friends.
